We are pleased to share a recently published paper in the NZ Journal of Forestry that comes from our ‘Transitioning exotic forest to native’ project. This paper describes the understory characteristics found under pine timber plantations around NZ. It helps answer the question of ‘what is already existing under pine stands managed for timber?’ Other project research is focusing on helping answer the question of what management intervention is needed to help advance a pine to native transition?
Carbon and biodiversity in the understory vegetation of New Zealand’s exotic tree plantations by Mark Kimberley, Meg Graeme and David Bergin, is available on our website here. Scroll down to ‘Published Papers’.
