Tāne's Tree Trust feature in the SFF 10th Anniversary Publication

Several completed and current Tāne's Tree Trust projects have been profiled in the MAF's Sustainable Farming Fund 10th anniversary publication – TEN YEARS OF GRASS ROOTS ACTION 2010.

In an article within this publication – TĀNE'S TREE TRUST – CHAMPIONING NATIVE TREES – our chair Ian Barton is profiled as an enthusiast with a lifelong interest in kauri and passion about the use of native New Zealand tree species for biodiversity, landscape enhancement, and for the production of high quality timber benefits. The feature adds:
As a "Community of Interest", Tāne's Tree Trust has partnered directly with the SFF in seven projects since 2000, as well as participating in other projects.

A further article also features the NORTHLAND TOTARA WORKING GROUP – PROFILING A VALUABLE TIMBER SPECIES involving the establishment of thinning trials across 10 farms throughout Northland in collaboration with Scion. Quoting Helen Moodie, NZ Landcare Trust Co-ordinator and project manager: "There has been plenty of interest amongst landowners…great turnouts at our field days and workshops…" The article concludes:
…the potential is there for farmers to incorporate the management of totara stands as part of a whole farm system.
